Last week while on the M4 my friend saw a red kite being harried by a corvid, well he says in the flick if a wing the kite was above the crow, reached out grabbed it and the crow dropped to the ground as if shot, dead. I have never seen a harried bird of prey kill it's annoyer, I have see many a buzzard turn on a crow but just defensely also seen a female osprey chase crows with a determined attitude. Now a kite is principally a carrion eater but if it was hungry why did it not hold on to the crow? perhaps it returned to where the crow lay when it was carrion.
