19th May and I knew the ospreys were at last settled from previous recent observations. I just happened on them as the male had caught a flatfish and began eating it. I could hear the female call begging and wanted to see the crossover for incubating as the male provided the fish remains. I have to say she got the major portion as I did indeed see a crossover, the male is pictured on the tree and the female on the post, note the head colouration difference, the females is solid brown and the males is patchy.…
7th May and three swifts flew over the house at lunchtime, I dropped the washing basket and headed for the swift CD call to switch it on. it is placed near to my new swift box and i hope to have it occupied this year, tks to Tayside biodiversity partnership for the box.…

I was observing the osprey pair on the 1/5/17 and she still hadn't settled, I witnessed an attempted copulation but she was wanting food I could heard the begging calls and see her beak moving. On the 3/5/17 she was sitting constantly through the couple of hours I was hoping to see Harrier activity, and I never did. So it would appear that the Ospreys have settled and I can only presume she was not in good enough condition to breed and took a week or two to get to good condition. All of a sudden more warblers are here…
