Aug 6th by Ian under Bird Watching

Mid to late July in the baking weather we had around 12 swifts from the 5 that arrived in May. All dark foreboding skies on the 3rd of August had no swifts visible, the 12 had dwindled to 3/4 on the 2 August leaving me to wonder if they were migrants and not locals. However the 4/5 and today 6th have been swiftless skies so sadly they have as ever breezed in, bred, and breezed away, leaving me with a beginning of the end of summer feeling. However despite swifts being difficult to precisely count I am convinced this year was a good one for them they certainly have a few more nesting sites thanks to donated "boxes" perhaps next year mine will be occupied.
